and feasibility study to assess the relocation of their existing laboratory and associated facilities in Wexham Springs, Slough.
The laboratory required updating to accommodate latest GLP guidelines and EA regulations. The existing laboratory
equipment was audited and reviewed so that the appraisal could incorporate their future needs and anticipated developments.
As a result of our appraisal, a specific building was identified. This was 26,000 sq ft over two floors in Wexham Springs,
Slough. Workpl@ce then undertook the required surveys to determine the ‘fit factor’, budgets and technical considerations.
Prior to the lease agreement, it was further necessary to pre determine Planning approval which was also undertaken.
Once the decision was approved to proceed with the project, the detail and technical planning was undertaken. This involved
the development of block plans into general arrangement drawings and detail working drawings. In addition, specialist
tenders were obtained to enable the budget sums previously identified to be rationalised and adjusted to suit the specific
needs.
The laboratory involved the provision of specialist gas supplies, nitrogen, argon, zero air etc, supplied from a newly constructed external bottle store. In addition, the laboratory was segregated into specialist areas with the provision of new fume cupboards, relocation of existing safety cabinets, specialist freezers (-150deg), wash up areas, darkroom, cell culture rooms, MSpec lab, isolation lab, radiochem lab, balances and HPLC. benches.
Due to the nature of the requirements, a complete new mechanical air conditioning plant was installed for the laboratory and
the existing building plant reconfigured to suit the Scientists Write Up area, new Training Suite and ‘Bistro’.
Workpl@ce further undertook the project management and implementation of the works and the relocation date met. The subsequent commissioning of instruments was then undertaken to ensure that the laboratory was back in operation with minimal inconvenience.
"Workplace have demonstrated a keen desire to ensure customer service is maintained at a high level. They have also shown themselves to be very flexible with the changes in designs and demands of a project of this size. The standard of work has
been high and any snagging issues have received their full and immediate attention."
"The standard of work, communication, quality of finish and timeliness is excellent."
